TRANSPORTATION AND OTHER FACILITIES

 

The town of Karaburun is connected by road to the city of Izmir ( 110 km ) and to the tourist center of Çeşme ( 46 km ).  The distance to the Adnan Menderes international airport of Izmir is 120 km . An hourly bus service connects Karaburun to Izmir .  

The distance by sea to Foça from the Karaburun coast is 14 nautical miles while the Greek island of Lesbos is 20 nautical miles and the Island of Chios is 15 nautical miles. 

Health services

There are two medical centers, one in the town of Karaburun and the other in the town of Mordogan . Both health centers have permanent doctor and medical staff attendants as well as fully equipped ambulances. Major medical treatment is available at the general hospitals in Urla, Çeşme or the University Hospitals of Izmir .

Social life

Karaburun and Mordogan have several restaurants, bars and disco’s. Various cultural and sports activities are organized by a number of civil society organizations such as the Karaburun Sailing Club, Local Agenda 21, City Council, etc.

Aqua sports

The very high quality of the sea water off the beaches of Karaburun and Mordogan have resulted in the award of the Blue Flag quality label to six of the beaches. The region also offers interesting marine life particularly suited to a series of aqua sports activities. In the town of Karaburun , a small sailing club has been set up aiming at helping children and adults become familiar with sailing techniques. There is also a diving club.
