LOCATION OF THE PROJECT: BOZKÖY

The village of Bozköy, located near the little township of Karaburun in the Province of Izmir on the Turkish Aegean coast, has been selected for the implementation of the Stylarius project. The following criteria have been decisive for this choice:

Locality

The village of Bozköy lies only 6 km distance from the town of Karaburun. The village is connected to Karaburun by a metalled road. The village shows a typical settlement pattern consisting mostly of stone houses. The place where Stylarius will be erected offers a splendid view of the village, the sea, and the island of Lesbos as well as a marvelous valley and the surrounding mountains.

Characteristics

The village of Bozköy has been able to preserve its authentic structure and character. The village has existed ever since ancient times. The houses are made of stone and the center of the village is very green. The village people are supporting the Stylarius project.

Transportation

A road connects Bozköy with Karaburun and the other villages. Local busses connect the village with the town center of Karaburun.

Local products and crops

The main crops are narcissus flowers, hyacinth flowers, mandarins, olives and fresh garden vegetables. Goat breeding gives milk and dairy products. The installation of Stylarius will certainly encourage the growth of more products in the valley.

Other assets

The village of Bozköy also offers the necessary basis for all other activities connected with the Stylarius project. The surrounding mountains, the trekking trails and fauna and flora of the landscape all contribute to the needs of the planned activities. Water, electricity and telephone connections are already available on the site where Stylarius will be constructed.
